What We Do: Our Programs
Farm Radio International is an Ottawa-based charitable organization, founded in 1979, that has built on Canada's rich history in farm radio to provide a unique international development program. The goal that inspires us is poverty reduction and food security for smallholder farmers in low-income countries. Our contribution to this goal is to support rural radio broadcasters as they serve the communication needs of farming women and men. Working with our radio partners, we are reaching out to hundreds of millions of smallholder farmers, and providing essential communication services.
Our network is comprised of 300 radio organizations in 39 African countries. Members include radio stations, NGOs with radio programs, and farmers' organizations that work with radio to serve their members.
At present, our work consists of 5 programs. Click on the boxes or links to learn more about these programs.
