Small-holder farmers are responsible for feeding a third of our planet. Yet, they and other rural people face significant barriers to their participation in the decision-making processes that affect their lives and livelihoods. To bring their voices to the forefront, and to encourage member state governments to listen to, respect, and act on farmers’ concerns about food systems, Farm Radio International (FRI), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), World Vision International and the Canadian Food Security Policy Group partnered to reach the most remote and vulnerable rural communities in Sub-Saharan African by conducting a series of On Air Dialogues.

In partnership with six radio stations in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Tanzania and Uganda, FRI supported local broadcasters to produce on-air dialogue programs about food safety and nutrition, equitable livelihoods, and resilience. Over June and July 2021, small-holder farmers and other rural people tuned in to listen to these programmes in their local languages. Using their mobile phones, 3,500 listeners called in to share their knowledge, experience, and solutions on several topics, including climate change and how it is impacting them.

Join us on to discuss concerns and solutions related to climate adaption that small-scale farmers and other rural people shared through the On Air Dialogues.
