Give the gift of radio this season

Radio is a powerful tool in international development

How your donation can make a difference

COVID has hugely impacted African communities

COVID-19 has had a huge impact on African communities. With the closure of markets, farmers have had nowhere to sell their crops and therefore no money to buy nutritious food.

Your donation will help us air lifesaving radio programs that provide critical information - both about better farming and about crucial COVID safety tips to help African farmers make it through this difficult time.

It's amazing how something as small as a radio can make all the difference for an entire community by providing:

Resources: We're adapting our current radio project programming in Africa, where appropriate, to meet the needs of communities affected by COVID-19 and to prevent further spread of the virus.

Connections: We're actively developing, sharing and distributing good information to broadcasters so they are equipped and can stay safe while getting information to their listeners about how to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Programs: We've set up or are reinforcing existing spaces, such as WhatsApp groups, to give radio broadcasters a place to learn from each other about best practices in COVID-19 radio programming.

See how Sahadutu's life was changed with a gift as simple as a radio

Women in Africa face many challenges when it comes to farming. Due to the triple burden of responsibility of childcare, farming, and household duties, women may have less time to attend meetings, try new farming techniques, or be interviewed by farm radio broadcasters.

Having access to a radio program can help women like Sahadatu make changes to improve their lives and livelihoods.

"The programming on Might FM has been very helpful. Before the program it was difficult to manage a household's finances, but with the farming, we are able to take care of our families."

"Now I work with other women. We formed farming groups and we help each other carry compost to the fields."

“With farming we are able to take care of our families."

- Sahadatu Alhassan (Ghana)

Listening to Farm Radio programs has taught farmers like Sahadatu about the benefits of composting.

"I used to get only three or four bags of produce. But now, after applying compost on my farm, I am able to get a harvest of sometimes 10 bags."
