Sharing our work at farmers’ markets across the country

We know that Farm Radio International does important work to support small-scale farmers, partnering with radio broadcasters to share knowledge and amplify the voice of farmers. Our work has had an incredible impact, with tens of millions of farmers served by radio programs aired with support from FRI.

We are taking our message to Canadians, visiting farmers markets across the country this August and September to share the work of Farm Radio International. Farmers’ markets are the perfect location — a place where Canadian small-scale farmers sell their harvest for others to enjoy. These vendors understand the challenges facing small-scale farmers. And shoppers visiting farmers’ markets appreciate the dedication and hard work of local farmers.

Board members Glenn Powell and Dave Barrie were active at the Georgetown Farmers’ Market Aug. 15, sharing our work and the important role of farmers in food security.

We will be popping up next at the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market in Edmonton, Sept. 5 and at the Callingwood Farmers’ market in Edmonton Sept. 13.

We will also be at the Kitsilano Farmers’ Market in Vancouver and the Ottawa Farmers’ Market at Lansdowne Park Sept. 13.

And if you are in Toronto, join us at the Withrow Park Farmers’ Market Sept. 26.

Bring your friends and drop by to learn more about our work, our impact and to enter a raffle to win a wind-up radio!
