Our work in
Tanzania
We have run some of our most far-reaching and diverse programs in Tanzania. The presence of a strong national language — 10% of Tanzanians have Swahili as their mother tongue, but up to 90% speak it as a second language — means that radio programs can be understood over wider geographic regions. Many of the Tanzanian stations we work with cover vast areas, allowing our programs to reach every corner of the country. Our project work in Tanzania has addressed a wide range of topics, ranging from legume production and weather advisory services to mental health and political participation.
Our reach
40 million potential listeners
By combining radio coverage maps with population density information, we estimate that our partner stations in Tanzania have a combined potential audience of more than 40 million people.
